Econometrics can be used to save lives! At the Erasmus MC, we apply econometric techniques to improve patient’s outcomes and public health, with a particular focus on screening programs. These programs are crucial for the early detection and prevention of diseases such as cancer. As cancer can be treated much better when detected at an early stage, screening can save lives. Optimizing screening programs requires advanced statistical and simulation modeling.
Our workshop is designed to provide participants with insights into how econometrics can be applied in healthcare, specifically in the context of screening. Attendees will get an introduction into how screening programs can be optimized to maximize population life-years, while minimizing costs. Using real-world examples, participants will be introduced to the tools and methods used in our studies, including simulation models and cost-effectiveness analysis. The workshop will be taught by researchers from the Erasmus MC with a background in econometrics themselves.
Join us at the Econometrics Career Days if you want to discover how econometrics can play a vital role in healthcare and how you can make an impact in this dynamic field!
